The House’s Edge in Craps- Part 2
You don’t have to be a math major to understand the game of craps, but having a good understanding of how it all works is going to give you some insight into the game. Remember that some games are more logical and strategy- based than others and this means that once you get a handle on them you are going to be able to influence the outcomes more readily. Craps is exactly like this and you should definitely take your time to understand the game as you start to work with it. None of the odds of the game are going to be difficult to calculate if you know how many possibilities they have to happen. For example, if the game gives you a probability of winning at 1-to-9, then that means every nine times you gamble, you are going to win one time and lose eight. So if you are wagering $2 nine times, then you are going to lose nine times, but win one. In dollars that means you are going to lose $18 but win $2. for a running total of $16 lost overall. Though this doesn’t sound like great odds, the reality is that when you are at the casino you are working with bad odds in general. The casino is so swayed towards the House that you have little to no shot of really winning anything with the games. This is why the House continues to win more and more over time and you keep going to the casino and losing.
Still, if you learn to work with various odds and wagers you can make a good showing with the game. It is one of the simplest games you are going to wager at but it also has some complexity to the bets you can use. You should give yourself some time to understand them by working with the wagers and really seeing what they mean. Use some math too to see just how much of a return each move has for you too. This can help you to understand which wagers are the most valuable and which ones you should eliminate from your wagering alltogether.
