The Hedge Bet in Craps Gaming

One thing that you are going to hear about in the world of craps gambling is the hedge bet. This is a wager that is done when wagering is divided into two smaller wagers. The purpose of craps hedge bets is to decrease your overall chances of loss at the table. Although this isn’t necessarily one of the most popular bets, or one that is most recommended, it still can help you in the long run to minimize your losses. One thing about minimizing losses is that it is going to help you with two goals: 1) to save your money and 2) to make your money last that much longer so you can keep playing. Sometimes in the gambling world that is a huge benefit—just to make enough money to completely your desired gaming session. You want to keep on extending your gaming time as you play and stretching your dollars is the key way to do this. Normally in the game you are going to use the hedge betting for the come out roll. If you want to use the wager, you need to start off with a pass line wager. For example, let’s say you start off with a $10-wager. You then would also make an additional $2 wager on any craps. If the shooter in the game ends up throwing a two, a three or a twelve, then you end up losing your $10 pass line wager, but you win $14 for the craps wager part of your move. If the shooter rolls any other number you lose any craps wager you made during play.

Another way to use the craps hedge wager for the point, but then use the don’t pass line wager. Let’s say you first wager $10 on the don’t pass line bet. Then the shooter ends up rolling a six for $6. You end up winning either way. If the next roll is a seven though, then you win the $10 for the don’t pass wager but lose $6 for the place wager. Craps wagers are sometimes complex when you first start working with them, and you may need some time to get accustomed to them.
